Automotive Industry Quality Manufacturing
Project Description
ISOQualitas is an international software development company specialized in quality management system (QMS) software solutions for the automotive industry. We offer a Product Lifecycle Management software that help automotive suppliers reach quality excellence, improve the bottom line, and exceed customer expectation. Our solution fully complies with quality management standards for the automotive industry, including IATF 16949:2016, AIAG and EAQF, and their respective reference manuals APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and VDA2. The company was founded in 1995 and maintains offices in Brazil, Mexico, USA, Spain and Switzerland. PROJECT SCOPE Background information: Automotive Quality Management Automotive suppliers are contractually required by their customers, leading automotive manufacturers and their supply chains to follow IATF 16949:2016, an industry-specific quality standard, evidenced by the IATF 16949:2016 certification. IATF 16949:2016 is the international standard for automotive quality management systems aimed at continuous improvement, defect prevention, and reduction in variation and waste in the supply chain and is based on ISO 9001, part of the ISO 9000 family of quality management systems published by the ISO, which deals with the requirements that organizations wishing to meet the standard must fulfill. Quality Core Tools The Automotive Quality Core Tools are the building blocks of an effective quality management system. They include Advanced Product Quality Planning & Control Plan (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA). Quality Core Tools was developed by the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), a member-funded non-profit organization working collaboratively to drive down cost and complexity in the automotive supply chain. Despite the availability of QMS software, anecdotal evidence suggests that the majority of automotive suppliers still use individual software tools (spreadsheets, document editors, project management software, etc.) to manage and document their quality systems and processes. This leads to many problems, including quality and production errors, inefficiency and delays, dissatisfied customers, and audit noncompliance putting their reputation at risk, and sometimes delaying their IATF certification leading to lost business. Main Objectives: A key part of ISOQualitas’ marketing strategy is to show automotive suppliers the effectiveness of our software in managing and documenting their quality system and processes. We do that by means of case studies whereby we demonstrate how to our software works to solve common problems and provide solutions to improve quality process efficiency. Project Outline: Students will work as a multidiscipline quality team of an automotive supplier, developing the entire lifecycle of a part or product as a case study, from conceptualization to disposition (delivery to customer). Each student will be provided with access to our software, and training on how to use the software to document their quality/manufacturing process. Students will also have access to an automotive quality engineer to answer questions, provide guidance, and mentoring. Main Deliverables – a written document describing the project, project team, objectives, and deliverables, including full product/part description and specs, drawings, etc. – presentation of the case study using the information and reports from the ISOQualitas.PLM software – each student will write a 1,000 to 1,500 word article based on the knowledge acquired, problem solved, insight, etc., which will be published separately by ISOQualitas on Linkedin and mentioning them as authors of the article. The case study and the information in the software will be used as a case study to present to potential customers. The articles will be used as marketing material to continue highlighting the company’s expertise in automotive quality management. Non-Disclosure Agreements: Students will sign a standard NDA.
