State Farm currently employs over 53,000 individuals, with more than 25,000 working in our Claims Department.
Project Background
State Farm, as an industry leader, continuously seeks talented candidates for full-time Claim Specialist positions through various recruitment strategies. Additionally, we run an 11-week summer Claims Internship program, with a target of recruiting 200 interns for the 2024 program. This project seeks to explore our employee value proposition in Claims from a UTD student’s perspective and how we can make State Farm Claims an attractive career destination for future talent.
Project Scope and Deliverables
The UTDsolv Capstone Senior Project proposal will focus on answering the question: “What is our employee value proposition in Claims from a UTD student’s perspective, and how can we position State Farm Claims as a desirable career destination?” Upon approval of the proposal, Team Manager Jamie Applegate will be the internal contact for weekly development/status calls. Section Managers Morgan Donovan and Sarah Montoya will provide additional support.
The final product and presentation should address the following:
- Scope of the project, including the targeted audience
- Timeframe for actionable items
- Timeline for observable results
- Any associated costs, ensuring a positive return on investment
Critical Success Factors
The expected outcome is to have 2-4 teams, each comprised of 5-7 UTD students, working throughout the 16-week Spring 2024 semester. The teams will deliver a final product to State Farm at the end of the semester. The deliverables should include concrete, functional, and implementable strategies to improve attraction and retention within State Farm Claims.
