Fleet Analysis
Project Description
Company Background
Prosper is a town in Collin and Denton counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located within the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, its population was 9,423; as of 2023, the population was 37,746.
Project Background
This project aims to provide an analysis of Town department data to facilitate data-driven decisions impacted by sales tax revenue.
The Town’s Finance department pulls sales tax data from the State and performs basic analysis to project future revenue. Currently, this process is manual and focuses solely on tax information for Prosper. Additionally, the department collects fuel and mileage data from its fuel payment platform, but this analysis is also manual and unscheduled. As a result, anomalous behavior, such as vehicles being driven longer distances than expected or inordinate fuel consumption, is not monitored regularly.
Finance would like to build a system that enables automated ongoing analysis and projections of sales tax data for Prosper, as well as for surrounding municipalities for comparison. Furthermore, a system is needed to facilitate automated analysis of fleet data for Prosper, allowing for the detection of anomalous behavior, projecting future usage, and easily reporting current usage.
Project Scope and Deliverables
Ideal project deliverables would include:
- A real-time, interactive Power BI dashboard that leverages current data provided by the State and can be customized as needed (date ranges, municipalities, etc.).
- A real-time, interactive Power BI dashboard that utilizes fuel payment provider data and can also be customized as needed (date ranges, miles driven, fuel consumed, etc.).
Critical Success Factors
- Effective implementation of real-time data monitoring and analysis.
- User-friendly interface for customizable data visualization.
- Regular updates to ensure data accuracy and relevance.
Required Skills and Disciplines
- Business & financial analysis / Statistics / GIS
- Data analysis / Technology (Excel / Power BI) to analyze data for the use cases detailed above and build dynamic visualizations.
