WHAT WE DO: UWT specializes in full truckload shipment of refrigerated produce and serves various industry segments. UWT’s model provides our customers and carriers with year round truck and load capacity. 75% of produce loads are handled by Owner-Operators, and our model ensures direct availability of these trucks, resulting in immediate contact to on-the-ground information that is critical (product temperatures, product condition, packaging issues, etc.).

PROJECT SCOPE

We’re looking to have students evaluate our existing proprietary mobile app and recommend improvements and next steps to enhance the user experience. We have a mobile app that is targeted at our carrier market segment. The app is used for load procurement and integrates with our proprietary truck management software. The app currently is in its infancy and performs a basic function of load broadcasting.

What we are specifically looking to do is move to the next phase in the app. The goal of this project is to offer more features to our carrier base and to attract more carriers to use the app.

We have a team of software developers that would work concurrently with the students to manage, evaluate and eventually implement recommendations.v

The desired outcomes of this project are:

• internal fact find to evaluate the integrity and status of our current mobile app
• external fact find to provide recommendations for next phase of the mobile app
• solutions and options for enhancements – some things we would like to implement are a way to sort/filter information, and adding a document send/receive function to our app
• impact/analysis of risks
• high level implementation plan including testing of enhancements.
